International couple spends Christmas in Lockdown in London and celebrates Christmas with Italian Christmas traditions and Bulgarian Christmas traditions all in lockdown. We're an international couple living in London, in lockdown at the moment due to all cancelled flights around Christmas and we wanted to share with you our Christmas in Lockdown. What did we do for Christmas in lockdown? Show you, How did an international couple like us, celebrates Christmas in lockdown, following different Christmas traditions? How an international couple like us, stayed away from our parents during Christmas and was forced to celebrated Christmas in lockdown in London?
In this vlogmas, we want to share with you how we spent Christmas in lockdown?
1. 24th, on Christmas Eve, as an international couple we decided to follow the Italian Christmas traditions and we ate fish and seafood.
In what is a very traditional tradition, the Italians don’t eat meat on Christmas Eve, or la Vigilia. Instead they eat a variety of fish dishes - sometimes up to seven courses of seafood! This is typical on the day and night before any religious celebration; you are supposed to ‘eat lean’ and purify your body ahead of the holidays! This is literally the tradition but as an international young couple we didn't follow the tradition precisely, but instead mixed with other traditions like the ones from British Christmas and we ate (and cooked everything from scratch due to lockdown)
- Shrimp cocktail
- grilled Shrimps skewers
- Pasta with seafood (that's a typical Christmas food in Italy )
- Lobster (yes, we treated ourselves as we couldn't go back home due to lockdown around Christmas time)
- Nothing fancy for desert, just some dates (not very fancy even for Christmas)
2. On our 2nd day, when we followed the Bulgarian Christmas traditions (as an international couple that celebrates both Christmas traditions ) we had
- Holly Christmas Bread
- Banitsa - which is an every day food in Bulgaria (but as it takes a lot of time to prepare I don't usually make it. But what a better time to make it than for Christmas or during lockdown?)
Hope you enjoyed watching this video, we sincerely wanted to share with you our Christmas traditions, how did we celebrate for the first time alone durign Christmas, while not being able to go anywhere due to lockdown in London!
