Space Juggling: Moment of Inertia and Rotations Sample

This video shows a Virtual Reality (VR) program that I wrote to experiment with different ways a 3D rigid object rotates in weightlessness. The program starts with the moment of inertia tensor of the body, then the user tells it what the angular momentum should be. The angular momentum is the pink arrow.

The Moment of Inertia of a three dimensional body is a pretty complex mathematical object. However, we can see some simple behavior when we look at the Principal Axes of the body. Mathematically, these axes are the Eigenvectors of the Moment of Inertia Tensor. The blue, red, and green axes are the maximum, minimum, and intermediate eigenvalues, respectively.
