Shipping companies saw increased investor interest on Friday as freight rates spiked, boosting sentiment across the sector.

The Baltic Dry Index (BDI), a key global benchmark for transporting dry bulk commodities like coal, iron ore, and grains, surged 9.6% to 1,904—its highest level since October 7—signaling strong activity in global trade routes. As a result, shares of Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) rose by 5.16%, Velox Shipping and Logistics gained 5%, and Great Eastern Shipping Company climbed 2.63%.
