Test scores have been falling among students in all grades, but grades are up. Education planner and college counselor Laurie Kopp Weingarten said schools offered students more leniency during the COVID-19 pandemic but haven't returned to traditional grading practices as students returned to in-person learning. However, Weingarten said it's not always a good thing, as students get a harsh awakening when they face different expectations in college.
