Part 5 - Handling Unit Grain Trains on the HO BN in 1973

What's involved in switching an arriving unit grain train? Follow along as a 22 car unit train of grain covered hoppers arrives in Seattle from the midwest and gets shoved into the massive receiving yard at the Cargill export grain terminal in downtown Seattle, as seen from the perspective of a railfan on Burr Stewart's HO scale Burrlington Northern Seattle Region layout, set in 1973. The locomotives are two GP38-2's and a GP35, and the BN covered hoppers include a special guest car displaying the logo of the BN's historical society, called "Friends of the Burlington Northern Railroad" (FOBNR.org). Burr narrates while handling the incoming train and shares a number of operating and philosophical tips about model railroad switching and train operations.

Further information on Burr's layout and its operations can be found on other videos on this YouTube channel, as well as his blog: burrlingtonnorthern.blogspot.com.

Burr took the video shots using an iPhoneX and an Akaso V50, and he edited it using iMovie on a MacBook Pro.
