Whether we’re aware of it or not, most of us living in America have been shaped by the competitiveness of capitalism. Add social media into the mix and a constant dose of body image scrutiny, and you’ve got a recipe for insecurity. How can you transcend the myth of “perfectionism” and develop a healthy body image? More importantly, how can you maintain this outlook while dating?

Bumble has created a safe space for dating with their policies on body shaming: if body shaming language is detected in a profile or chat, the user will receive a warning and if the comment is deemed particularly harmful and/or repeated, Bumble will permanently suspend the user from the app. Additionally, a new anti-cyberflashing bill was introduced in January, which would effectively push back against harassment and unwanted sexual images in a concrete way.
