Perilous Mission - Devastators in the Battle of Midway
In June 1942 the titanic clash of the Battle of Midway took place. When the fight was over, Japan's elite carrier force, Kido Butai, had been crushed. In the process, all three U.S. Devastator TBD-1 Torpedo Bomber squadrons were wiped out. After the battle the aircrew of VT-8, 6 and 3 were lauded for their courage and devotion in the most trying of circumstances. This is their story.
