Smuggling Crackdown: Customs Records Major Success at Idiroko Border

The Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun One Area Command, has intensified its anti-smuggling operations, recording major successes through intelligence-driven strategies and strong inter-agency collaboration along the nation’s border corridors.

Within just forty days, operatives of the command reportedly intercepted contraband goods with a Duty Paid Value estimated at over ₦6 billion during coordinated operations targeting smuggling activities around the Idiroko axis of Ogun State.

The crackdown highlights ongoing efforts by the Nigeria Customs Service to strengthen border security, combat illegal trade, and protect the nation’s economy from the impact of smuggling and revenue loss.

Authorities say the successful operations were made possible through improved intelligence gathering, surveillance, and cooperation among security agencies operating along Nigeria’s borders.

The Idiroko border corridor remains one of the country’s key entry points, making it a strategic focus in the fight against cross-border crimes, illicit trade, and economic sabotage.

Security experts believe the intensified enforcement actions could further discourage smuggling activities while boosting lawful trade and enhancing national revenue generation.

The Nigeria Customs Service has continued to reassure citizens of its commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s borders and ensuring compliance with customs regulations across the country.

Stay tuned for more updates, field reports, and exclusive coverage on security operations, border management, and anti-smuggling efforts nationwide.
