Country Crest Farming - Fendt Rogator 645

I got the chance to meet Cahal from Country Crest Farming recently as he was getting accustomed to his new baby! The first in Ireland, supplied by Farmworks Machinery Ltd. in Ballyboughal, Co.Dublin, the new Fendt Rogator 645 is a very impressive piece of kit, something myself and Cahal agreed on immediately.
Staying within the Agco family, Country Crest opted to trade in their 2013 Challenger Rogator 645B for the new Fendt Rogator 645 moving with the times as Fendt now takes over from Challenger within the UK & EU markets.
Spraying with a boom width of 30m and a tank capacity of 4000 liters we weren't long getting through the acres including cleaning it out before spraying some oil seed rape.
This particular machine came with a 50k continuously variable transmission which when coupled with the single wheel suspension provides the operator with an incredibly smooth and comfortable driving experience over even the roughest terrain at any speed.
A crucial component to the ride comfort and stability is the new light-weight aluminium boom. It was very noticable how well the machine could handle turning in the field with the boom out at full width. To further stabilise the boom, Optisonic ultrasonic sensors are fitted along the boom with LEDs for night time spraying helping to maintain a level and consistent distance above the crop reducing drift. (Definitely a reason to go back and get some videos/photos at night!)
Inside the Vision Cab the operator’s visibility is perfect for the road and field. Similar to Fendt’s tractor range the Rogator is equipped with a 10.4” Varioterminal along with a second smaller monitor for the two rear facing cameras. A new feature compared to their previous Challenger Rogator is the ability to flush out the sprayer entirely from inside the cab via the Varioterminal, making life much easier for the operator.
Overall from talking with Cahal he was very impressed with the upgrade from their previous Challenger Rogator and I would like to wish Cahal and all the Country Crest Farming team all the best with their new machine and I look forward to working with them again as the season progresses.
