Logic Tips: Sidechain Compression on Vocal Reverb

Applying a long, washy reverb can result in some lush, ethereal textures and dreamy atmospheres. Sometimes, though, it can drown out imperative elements, particularly vocal lines. By applying sidechain compression, we can keep the vocal line shining and let the reverb tail flourish with minimal clashing. Logic Pro 10.5 makes this easy with busses and some of its stock plug-ins.

In this video, MusicTech expert Jono Buchanan shows you how to set up sidechain compression on a vocal reverb. You'll learn when to apply the effect and how different parameters can enhance results.
