Gerry Conway’s Batman run might genuinely be one of the most underrated eras in Batman history.
Covering both Batman and Detective Comics throughout the 1980s, Conway created a version of the Dark Knight that was endlessly fun to read month after month.
From the atmosphere, to the pacing, to the supporting cast and the rise of Killer Croc… this era completely hooked me.
As someone who already loved Gerry Conway’s Amazing Spider-Man run, finally reaching his Batman comics while reading in order was such a rewarding experience.
So in this video, I wanted to talk about why this run works so well… and why I think Gerry Conway quietly wrote one of the best Batman runs ever.
