Volcano erupts as tourists race down slope in dramatic escape

Tourists climbing an active volcano in Guatemala were forced to flee for their lives as a sudden eruption sent ash and debris down the slope.

In the footage, hikers can be seen scrambling down El Paso de la Muerte, or the Death Trail, as ash and stones rain down around them, forcing a frantic descent down the volcanic slope.
