A leech production centre was working full steam in Moscow on Thursday as centuries old leech therapy seems to be gaining popularity amongst modern medical practitioners.

Leeches, which release hirudin when applied to skin, have been used since medieval times for the reduction of blood clotting and inflammation but have recently been making a comeback and gaining acceptance within the wider medical community.
