Kirby's Augusta - The Mystery of John Houghton
Today's Heritage Academy at Augusta's old Houghton Elementary could be called the most unique school in Georgia.
It is very old. It traces its beginnings to 1821 when our town's first public free school sat on this spot ..... But other schools are older.
No, this school is unique because the man who originally endowed it to help educate the less fortunate children of our community is buried ... inside it.
That would be John W. Houghton.
