Olena Semenyaka on Homeland Seminar's Concept

Last year, Dec. 13, 2019, on the occasion of the upcoming winter solstice on Dec. 22, Homeland Seminar was launched in the city of Kyiv. The seminar cycle was introduced by Olena Semenyaka, the coordinator of the metapolitical Reconquista Movement, as development of the most valuable ideas explored within the preceding Pact of Steel conference cycle the format of which, by and large, has exhausted itself.

Homeland Seminar is represented as an interdisciplinary, international and both theoretical and practical enterprise at the intersection of Indo-European studies, mythological research, archaeology and other strictly scientific fields, ecology, sacred geography and metapolitics.

Besides, Olena Semenyaka disclosed the connection between the concept, and the title of the Seminar, with the discovery of the proto-Indo-European homeland (Urheimat) in the territory of the Pontic-Caspian steppe covering large parts of modern Ukraine which today claims the role of Western cultural and geopolitical synergies' center.

Also, she drew attention of the audience to the legacy of Ernst Jünger, his late philosophical work "At the Wall of Time" (1959) in particular, in which he combined phenomenological rendition of the traditionalist doctrine of the ages with heuristic empirical analysis of what he sees as the upheaval brought by a new revolt of the Earth, Gaia, against the patriarchal orders of Heaven-Uranus. Considered as the phase heralding the beginning of metahistory, just like "the father of history" Herodotus reflected upon the transition from the myth to history, this conception heavily influenced the development of Italian school of geophilosophy.

Comprehensive magazine "Antaios" named after neither a god, nor a titan Antaios, son of Gaia who drew strength from his mother by touching the ground, which was edited by Ernst Jünger and Romanian historian of religions Mircea Eliade from 1959 to 1971, was suggested as a role model for the theoretical records of Homeland Seminar.

As the hopes to hold the next edition of Homeland Seminar, and shoot new video material, on the occasion of this year's winter solstice on Dec. 21, quickly vanished, we decided to upload this fragment of the inaugural event to encourage elaboration of its future formats and selection of possible locations for field studies on sacred geography. After all, Homeland Seminar is not tied to winter solstice exclusively, especially when it comes to field studies that require weather conditions of warm seasons. So, as soon as the quarantine ends, we are open for suggestions, in Ukraine and elsewhere.
