Stacey Abrams, "Minority Leader"
Stacey Abrams discusses her book "Minority Leader" at Politics and Prose on 4/25/18.
The first woman to lead either party in the Georgia General Assembly, the first African American to lead in the House of Representatives, and now a candidate in the 2018 Georgia gubernatorial race, Abrams knows a lot about conventional skills like networking, persistence, and the value of mentors. She also has special insight about how to use otherness as an advantage and how turn fear into a source of strength. As she recounts her rise from a working-class Gulfport, Mississippi, family to Yale Law School and on to national recognition for her work in registering voters of color, Abrams combines memoir with a practical guide for women and people of color who want to break into places that have long been the territory of white men.
