How to Find Compression Leak
This is a short hand-held phone video on how to perform a cylinder 'leak test' on an engine that is misfiring. Should you suspect you have a cylinder valve that is leaking and not sealing or seating properly, this is a good basic video tutorial for you. To do this test, you will need an air compressor with a low-pressure regulated air supply, a common professional cylinder compression gauge tester which has a typical quick-disconnect, a Schrader valve removal/install tool and common hand tools used for tune-ups. I've recently ordered up a head-mounted camera for better future videos from this POV standpoint, but this is very useful as-is. I have also started shooting a new and rather involved video on 'general' cylinder head removal/reinstall on a typical V8 engine for future reference. In this case, a 1999 Dodge 1500 Pickup - same specimen from here. I hope this helps some folks understand about basic cylinder leakage and how to determine where that leak may be coming from. r-
