1959 Chevy Apache project | Episode 1.
I found another 1959 Chevrolet Apache pickup! It's a bit of a fixer-upper, but it's all there. It supposedly ran when it was parked, but I can't guess if that was this century!
This 59 Chevy has a 6 cylinder engine, 4 speed transmission, 8 foot step side box, and if you can believe it, it doesn't have WIFI or an MP3 player lol.
Now to figure out what to do with it? I could rebuild it to original, or put a newer gas engine in, or make version #2 with a 353 Detroit Diesel Engine? I have a rebuilt 353 that's been sitting in a shed rebuilt since 1982. I have a divorced transfer case & could make it into a 4 wheel drive. I just bought an old International truck with a 3 speed auxiliary transmission. The options are endless!
If I make it into a road trip cruiser, I think a Detroit engine might not be the best option for all the engine noise. I could use a different engine. Perkins & Mitsubishi are both great diesel engines that are quiet and economical. I have models of those engines too, but probably not the right size for the job.
