P4.3 Components Characteristics

1. Understand what happens to the resistance of a filament lamp as its temperature increases.
2. Understand how the current through a diode depends on the potential difference.
3. Understand what happens to the resistance of a Thermistor and LDR.

Key points

Calculate resistance using the equation 𝑅(Ω)=𝑉(𝑉)/𝐼(𝐴)
Filament light bulbs resistance increases as the temperature increases.
Diode: forward current resistance is low. Reverse current resistance is high.
A thermistor`s resistance decreases if its temperature increases.
A LDR`s resistance decreases if the light intensity on it increases.
