Prophet Uzair (A.S) was a righteous servant of Allah, known for his knowledge of the Torah. His story is mentioned in the Qur’an to show Allah’s power to give life after death.

One day, Uzair (A.S) passed by a ruined, lifeless town. Seeing the destruction, he wondered in his heart, “How will Allah bring this town back to life?”

To show him His power, Allah caused Uzair (A.S) to die for 100 years.

After 100 years, Allah brought him back to life and asked, “How long did you stay?” Uzair (A.S) thought it was just a day or part of a day. But Allah told him he had been gone for a century.

Then Allah showed him signs:

His food and drink were still fresh—unchanged after 100 years.

His donkey had died and turned into bones, but Allah brought it back to life in front of him.
Seeing all this, Uzair (A.S) said, “Now I know that Allah has power over every thing.”
