Finnish Kirjakieli vs Puhekieli | Formal vs Informal | KatChats

In this lesson, I'll try to explain the difference between the Finnish 'puhekieli' (informal/everyday language) and 'kirjakieli' (formal/book language).

I figured since there are two "forms" of Finnish, and most material I have seen only touches upon the formal version, that I should include some of the informal ways to say things in my videos so that you can be exposed to that too.

Main point to remember is that Kirjakieli is used in writing and formal situations, whereas puhekieli is used in everyday settings when you talk to people and communicate with others in Finnish orally.

Hope this was helpful! :)
