How Do #BSFL Beat Out The House Flies?
When my BSFL composting bin starts up in the late Spring, the house flies arrive first, lay eggs and start running things. A few weeks later, the soldier flies begin hatching into adults and laying eggs of their own. Once the soldier fly larvae establish themselves in the bin, the house flies are no longer king. My assumption is that the house flies lay eggs on the food waste, where they get eaten by the BSFL. If you know for sure, let me know.
