Joanne Freeman on Hamilton: the Man, the Myth, the Musical 2017 Christen Lecture Part I of II

Part I of II Joanne Freeman, Ph.D., professor of history and American studies at Yale University, delivered Manhattan College’s annual Robert J. Christen Lecture on Wednesday, February 15 at 4:30 p.m. in room 5B of the Kelly Student Commons on campus at 3900 Waldo Avenue, Bronx, NY 10463.

Freeman’s talk, titled “Hamilton: The Man, the Myth, the Musical,” delves into the life and legacy of Alexander Hamilton and the culture of honor among the founding fathers of the United States. The author of Affairs of Honor: National Politics in the New Republic, Freeman also edited Alexander Hamilton: Writings for the Library of America. Her current project explores physical violence in the U.S. Congress between 1830 and the Civil War.
