AmGrad: Stories of Champions - Sgt. Oscar Cardenas, PBC Sheriff’s Office

Our American Graduate series focuses on local champions aiding in raising the quality of education as well as graduating statistics in the community. On this installment, WXEL speaks with Sgt. Oscar Cardenas of Palm Beach County Police about the importance of guidance and continuing education.

WXEL participates at various events throughout the community mostly in the Palm Beach County area to promote WXEL TV services and to enhance/create partnerships, includng the Literacy Luncheon, Literacy Day Celebration, Health fair, parents literacy night, etc. Also, WXEL's Education Director Samantha Conde, serves in diverse board/committees including Resource Depot Board, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, Central Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, ArtiGras – ArtiKids. Furthermore WXEL's Education Director participates/attends Conferences, Seminars and Webinars for professional development and to fulfill grant requirements. WXEL supports national and local campaigns including; Read for the Record, Read Together Palm Beach County, Families Reading Together; and other multi-media community engagement campaigns or initiatives often grant-funded and based on PBS programs and other national and local public broadcasting programs; focusing on relevant local issues while targeting diverse audiences through activities and events
