There Is a Void in Space So Large It Should Not Exist. It Is Completely Empty.

In 2007 astronomers mapping the cosmic microwave background discovered a region of space approximately one billion light years across containing almost no galaxies, no dark matter, and no detectable energy. The Boötes Void. Standard cosmological models predict matter should distribute somewhat evenly across the universe. A void this size violates those models completely. Inside it astronomers have found only sixty galaxies where millions should exist. The void is so large that if our Milky Way sat at its center, we would have thought we were alone in the universe until the 1980s. Nobody predicted it. Nobody has explained it.
