Because of the types of treatment COVID-19 patients must undergo, such as sedation and intubation, medical team members are not able to learn about them from the patients or their family members. Because a personal connection with care team members is an essential part of the healing process, Chaplain Elizabeth Tracey, M.S., clinical care coordinator Ari Stakias, and physicians Brian Garibaldi, M.D., and Dale Needham, M.D., Ph.D., started an initiative, This Is My Story, that records family interviews about their loved ones, such as their interests and upbringing--and not their disease.
