This Coastal Redwood slab will eventually become a one-of-a-kind live edge tabletop.

One of my favorite parts of the process is seeing what hides beneath the surface.
.
Before surfacing, many people would walk right past a slab like this because of its weathered appearance.
.
But once the surface is flattened and the grain is revealed… HOO-WEE.
.
The colors, grain patterns, character, and figure hiding inside these slabs never get old.
.
Every pass through the surfacing machine reveals more of the story that Mother Nature spent decades creating.
