Female weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz will be bringing home the first-ever Olympic gold for the Philippines, after ending the nation’s near 100-year wait for the top medal. The 30-year-old lifted a combined weight of 224kg in the 55kg category at Tokyo 2020 on July 26, 2021, setting an Olympic record and tying the world record in the process.
