Konstantin Grcic - Panorama - Interview

Konstantin Grcic is one of the most important designers of our day. Serious and functional, unwieldy and occasionally disconcerting, his works combine an industrial aesthetic with experimental, artistic elements. Many of them are already recognised as design classics. »Konstantin Grcic – Panorama« is the largest solo exhibition on Grcic and his work to date. Especially for this show, the designer has created several large-scale installations rendering his personal visions for life in the future: a home interior, a design studio and an urban landscape framed by a spectacular 30-metre long panorama. A fourth area of the exhibition provides insights into Grcic’s working methods with a selection of prototypes, drawings, found artefacts and works by other designers who have inspired Grcic. »Panorama« occupies the space between present and future, reality and fiction: contemplative, fragmentary and possessing extraordinary visual power.
