In Memory of Queen Anne Boleyn ♡ (1507—19 May 1536) ♔ (Tenure: 28 May 1533—17 May 1536)

In a way we wanted to make this a tribute to Anne as a queen and not just for her day of execution; since her coronation day is not too far away from this sad day. We hope you all like it! ♡

❝ What was remarkable about Anne Boleyn's coronation is that she was crowned as a monarch in her own right. Not only was she the sole royal consort who had ever been given her own, separate coronation ceremony, but she was crowned with St. Edward’s crown, anointed, and handed the orb and scepter, just like a king. The anointing ceremony created a mystical bond with God which lifted her above the earthly judgments of men. Indeed, after Henry annulled their marriage days before her execution, the council debated whether it was even possible to strip her of her title of queen. ❞

❝ It surely cannot be denied Anne Boleyn had a profound impact on history. She was instrumental in the birth of Anglicanism, a religion upheld by the incumbent queen, was generous with the poorer of the realm, saved some who suffered under religious persecution in Europe and gave birth to a great monarch whose reign bears all the hallmarks of her mother’s personality and strength. Her wrongful death and the circumstances leading up to that day are still debated with the general consensus being that she was wholly innocent. In the words spoken by her friend and confessor, Thomas Cranmer, Archbishop of Canterbury: “She who has been the Queen of England upon earth will today become a Queen in heaven.” ❞
