Today marks one year since our children officially became adopted.

While this is a joyful day for our family, it is also a reminder that many children and young adults in our local region are currently living in out-of-home care settings, including students attending our public schools.

This video is a reflection on foster care, trauma, stability, and the important role schools can play in the lives of children experiencing uncertainty and loss.

For many children in foster care, school becomes more than academics. It becomes consistency, encouragement, stability, and sometimes the safest and most predictable part of their lives.

During Foster Care Awareness Month, let’s continue building schools and communities that lead with empathy, support mental health, and ensure every child feels safe, supported, and seen.
