4K New Zealand South Island: The Road To Milford Sound

The drive to Milford Sound is truly one of the most spectacular drives in the entire world. I had visited 4 times in the past, and always wanted more time to just soak in the beauty of this place. I know of no other place in the world where you can be in snow avalanche country--and 15 minutes later be near sea level and the tropics!! On this trip I allowed myself 4 full hours to drive about 25 or so, so I could finally take all the photos and video I wanted. I also encountered a most amazing Kea parrot. These are the only alpine parrots in the world, and this cheeky fellow really wanted to chew all the foam rubber gaskets on my rental car! He was so close to me--18 inches or less--that it was quite difficult for me to follow him with my camera on a monopod! And when I slowly drove away he actually paced me, flying alongside my car, looking in the driver's side window at me with this "where are you going? We were just getting started having fun!"

I was also extraordinarily blessed to have one of the rarest of days on Milford Sound--not a cloud in the sky. The nearly constant rain makes for spectacular waterfalls, but to see the Sound in clear weather was a very special treat. I shot this in 4K on a Sony AX100 camera at 100mbps in June 2016, and edited in 4K on Edius 8 Pro.
