"PROMONTORY - THE GAEL" - BRAVEHEART LAST OF THE MOHICANS HD MEDIEVAL LOVE STORY MEL GIBSON

Using "Promontory" from The Last of the Mohicans which is based on a Celtic tune called "The Gael" and the Academy-Award winning film, Braveheart. This is a montage featuring the song and the film. I found Promontory to have an epic feel and fashioned it to Mel Gibson's epic medieval drama.

The battles in both films are absolutely brutal, up close and personal.

After England's King Edward Longshanks declared "prima nocta" (first night), William Wallace (Mel Gibson) and Marian wed in secret rather than have her be unwillingly shared with an English lord. After an English soldier garrisoned at their Scottish hamlet tried to rape Marian, Wallace intervenes and injures several English soldiers. The two attempt to escape, but Marian is caught.

The local magistrate executes Marian for "assault on the king's soldiers which is the same as an assault on the King himself." Wallace had simply wanted to be a farmer, but events led him to be a crusader for Scottish freedom against the tyranny of English rule.

He is knighted by the Scottish lords for his victory at The Battle of Stirling. He sees in Robert the Bruce a leader who can united the warring Scottish clans under one banner. The Bruce agrees, but later betrays Wallace against his better judgment. The Bruce's scheming father sets up a trap in which Wallace will be turned over to the English.

Wallace is taken to London to stand trial. He is hanged, strung up, beheaded and drawn and quartered (intestines removed slowly and all four limbs severed one by one). Longshanks posted the body parts around Scotland as a threat, but it had the opposite effect.

In exchange for the Scottish crown, The Bruce is to pay fealty to the English king, but he decides to rally the Scottish forces to attack the assembled English army. In the epilogue the Scottish fought outnumbered and starving but they fought like warrior poets - they fought like Scotsmen.
