The Day It Broke Down - Bus 2866 - 2010 IC CE

Well here's a throwback to Thursday, April 11, 2017, the last video I have of riding 2866.

We had just pulled out of the school for the afternoon route, when suddenly the alarm started going off and wouldn't shut off. After a minute or so, Chris radioed shop, and they instructed her to pull back into the school and shut the bus off. With the gas pedal floored, the bus barely made it up the hill on and into the front lot.

Two other buses in the area, 2310 (2011 Blue Bird Vision) and 1661 (2005 Blue Bird All American FE) both volunteered to come get us and take us home. 1661 was closer, so he came and got us. After a while, bus 2945 (IC CE) was brought in and given to Chris to use for her elementary route. 2866 had be towed back to base in the evening.

It turns out the problem was some belt had snapped, I believe the water pump belt. The belt was quickly swapped, and the bus was back on the road the next day.

In this video, you can see the new Kenwood NX-800H radio that was installed in place of the TK-8150.

This bus will be assigned to a different driver for this upcoming school year. My former driver will now be in 4372, a brand new 2018 CE.
