4K | Walking on the Matterhorn 2015 (150 years after the first ascent)

In July 2015 I visited Zermatt, the small town in the Swiss Alps that lies at the foot of the Matterhorn. 150 years after the first ascent of the Matterhorn, the world's most scenic mountain, I walked on the trails of the first climbers, who reached the top. My journey started with the Matterhorn Express cable car to save time as I was in Switzerland for just two days. Afterwards I walked on the famous Hörnli ridge to the Hörnli Hut, the Matterhorn base camp at 3260 metres (10700 ft), and back. It was my second trek above 3000 metres (9840 ft).
