"How to drink French wine" with Jessica Green, in conversation with Pamela Druckerman
What’s the difference between a Bordeaux and a Burgundy? Why are French wines unique, and what should you look for when you taste them? French wine specialist Jessica Green will introduce us to three of the world’s top wine regions: Burgundy, Bordeaux and the Loire.
This class works with or without wine. Feel free to have any or all of the following on hand, to taste:
One white:
--a Chablis from Burgundy (Jessica will taste Jean-Paul Droin Chablis 2018; any white Burgundy works)
And two reds:
--an AC Medoc from Bordeaux (Jessica will taste Chateau Greysac 2015; any Bordeaux red will do)
--a Chinon from the Loire (she’ll taste Olga Raffault Chinon Les Picasses; any Loire red — Chinon, Bourgueil or Saumur-Champigny – will do)
Jessica Green teaches at the International Wine Center in New York. She earned the Diploma from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust in 2011 and is currently a candidate for the Master of Wine qualification, which is held by just 394 people worldwide. She lived for five years in Lyon, France, between Beaujolais and the Northern Rhône.
Pamela Druckerman is the author of four books including Bringing Up Bébé: One American mother discovers the wisdom of French parenting, which has been translated into 30 languages. Her most recent book is There Are No Grown-Ups: A Midlife Coming-of-Age Story.
This PANDEMONIUM U class is the second in a series sponsored by the Federation of Alliances Françaises USA, which promotes French language and culture through 100+ Alliance Française chapters across the U.S.
