"They Don't Care About The Hood"
In 1991, John Singleton directed Boyz n the Hood, a hood drama film that holds so much relevance today. This particular scene features Ice Cube's character "Doughboy" sitting on the porch with his childhood friend Tre played by Cuba Gooding Jr. After the murder of his brother, "Rickey" played by Morris Chestnut, Cube reflects about how it seems like no one cares about the hood. This scene brings attention to why our work is so important at For Oak Cliff. We work every day to bring hope to our hood, with the students, families, and community members leading our work.
