Tired Of Losing Your JIGS In The Rocks? Try This Jetty Fishing Setup

I use this rig when jetty fishing for rockfish on the Oregon Coast a lot! this jetty fishing setup helps keep you from snags and has caught me some nice rockfish!
Most know this Rock fishing setup as the Texas rig or "weedless" setup. I have used it a lot in the past for targeting largemouth and smallmouth bass, but it works amazingly on the jetty or just from shore in general.
What's best about the jetty fishing rig is that it has multiple uses. For one, if you are new to an area and aren't sure of the depth and structure along the bottom, You can simply cast this setup out, wait for it to hit bottom, and then slowly retrieve it, allowing you to feel whether you are bumping along rocks, dragging through the sand, or hanging up on kelp and other vegetation. The other benefit and the main one is that the hook on this bait is set just inside and under the surface, this allows you to drag across rocks without your hook snagging into the multiple obstacles that are out there, allowing you to keep your bait closet to the bottom, where the fish usually are. You can also just simply cast this setup and swim it back to you at whatever depth you want to be fishing. I like to give my baits little pops and quick cranks along the way to mix up the action.
This rig can be used with all kinds of soft plastic baits but the Keitech Rage Swimmers in a 4.75" with a 1/2oz up to a 1oz bullet weight depending on my location but for fishing jetties, i'm usually using a 3/8oz up to a 1/2oz and that seems to get the job done.
This is a very effective jetty fishing rig in my opinion and should be part of every anglers' arsenal!
I have used this rig for (as mentioned) largemouth and smallmouth bass as well as Lingcod, kelp greenling, black sea bass (black rockfish), Cabezon, and even some Buffalo Sculpin.
