How Long Does a Spare Tire Last? : HOW TO ESCAPE

How long does a spare tire last??? When do you replace it? How old can it be??? We'll be showing what to look for in terms of bare minimum requirements for staying current on your spare tire... and why we are going to throw away a seemingly perfect spare tire!

1. Make sure the tire can hold air. This means over time for when you need it in a pinch, and especially when it's under the weight of the vehicle.
2. Check the tread depth. These tires are not meant for long travel, and 4/32" is acceptable as long as it's used for a short distance. Anything less than 2/32" is pushing it. If it's less, get it replaced.
3. Check the sidewall quality. Look for any cracking, bubbling, failures of the material at the sidewall of the tire. Check both sides. If there are any defects, don't use the tire and get it replaced!
4. Finally, CHECK THAT DATE CODE!!! Details on that in the video :P
