Powering Boochcraft with the Sun: Solar Power for B Corps

When Boochcraft, a hard kombucha brewer in San Diego, wanted to power their company with renewable energy, they partnered with HES Renewables. The first project was to install a commercial solar system (only solar) on their Chula Vista headquarters. That solar project was a success and the brewer opted to build an ambitious solar with energy storage system at their Chula Vista brewery.

The solar project was unique due to the business location and layout. The brewing facility has a flat roof, for which a dual-tilt solar array was designed and installed. Offering more access to the sunlight is a pitched-roof building attached to the brewing facility. For this, HES Renewables mounted more solar using standoffs to mount the panels to the metal roof. Wanting even more clean energy to power their brewing, Boochcraft has HES Renewables construct a solar carport. That is, a carport with panels and inverters attached, feeling more renewable energy into the system. To maximize their ability to manage their power to reduce demand charges and lower their energy bill further.
