Ken Fisher Answers Growth vs. Value: Which is Better?
Growth stocks or value stocks? Investors are continually wondering which category is better for long-term performance. While near-term dominance can change, the long-term picture is more balanced. In this video, Ken Fisher, investor and founder of Fisher Investments, compares the current state and future prospects of growth versus value.
Ken describes that over the very long-term, growth and value stocks tend to perform about equally. He says this is because the supply of equities of any category will overwhelm any shifts in demand. Some investors are more comfortable analyzing and investing in one category or another, and as long as you can maintain a diversified portfolio, Ken says you can stick to what you’re good at. He cautions against interpreting a category’s underperformance as a signal that it’s “due” for good future returns. Successfully timing categories is incredibly difficult and could lead to big setbacks for your investment goals.
