Tony & Chelsea Northrup compare the new Sony 20-70 f/4 G kit lens against the old lens, the Sony 24-105 f/4 G (http://sdp.io/s24105g)... and they're shocked! The new lens is more wide angle, obviously, bt it's also WAY sharper - EVEN CROPPED TO 105mm!! But does the lack of optical stabilization ruin it??

But the new 20mm wide angle reach proved extremely useful for video and vlogging, both of which frequently have crops. For example, the Sony a7 III has a 1.2X crop in 4k video, bringing the 20mm to 24mm. Sony's Active Stabilization in video adds a 1.1X crop.
