In 1962, Carroll Shelby had a heart condition that ended his racing career. So he did something else. He took a British AC Cars body, dropped a Ford V8 inside it, and built something Ferrari had never seen — 1,000 kilograms against 485 horsepower. Enzo Ferrari called it brutal and unsophisticated. Then the Cobra started winning every class against Ferrari's best. Ford tried to buy Ferrari in 1963 to end the embarrassment. Enzo accepted — then walked away at the last moment. Only 655 Cobras were ever built. Ferrari spent decades trying to answer a question one sick man asked in a garage. He never got an answer.
