The Rebel, “Cheesecake” Tenor Ukulele Review

My initial plan was to purchase a different Rebel online at The Ukulele Site in Hawaii but because I was in the Chicago area I decided to stop by Aloha City Ukes and check out those and other brands and models before ordering. It’s funny but for 30+ years I worked in retail and hated it when customers would come into my shop to see what they liked and then buy it online. And here I was about to do the same thing.

After having the opportunity to actually hold and play the different brands I realized that it was the Rebel Cheesecake that I preferred. Another thing I realized is that what I was about to do was wrong and that I needed to support Matt and his shop. Having a quality shop within driving distance is unheard of in Illinois. Thanks for being there!

This ukulele has a 2” thick body. It’s a solid mahogany and spruce tenor ukulele. It has an absolutely beautiful sound, stunning looks, build and overall quality.

Although the Rebel is made in the same small shop that KoAloha Opio’s are made, and by the same Luthiers, at least on mine, the neck has definitely a different feel. Yet the beautiful sound remains the same.

I love this ukulele! It has become my, “Go to uke”

If you’re curious here is the link to the version of, Malagueña I played.
