Why are there different readings and manuscripts of the #Quran? Today, most Muslims read the Quran in a text that is referred to as the Egyptian edition of 1924, but other texts are available in other parts of the world. Dr. Shabir Ally retraces the #history of the rise and development of different readings of the Quran. He explains how readings became divergent and how manuscripts (and today, printed texts) developed out of those readings. He also comments on what effect this had on the beliefs and practices of #Muslims.
