How To Edit Your Clock Font Display on iPhone

In this video, I’m going to show you how to change the displayed font and color of the clock widget on your iPhone’s lock screen.

This feature was added to Apple’s iOS 16, so make sure you’re at least updated to that. To change the displayed clock, start by locking your iPhone, and then tapping to wake it up, but don’t unlock it yet.

Press and hold on the screen, and it will then pop back into a different customize view. You’ll first have to create a new lock screen to customize it. In the future though, once you have one created, you’ll be able to change the clock and widgets by just choosing customize here.

Tap the plus sign on the bottom or scroll over to the last screen and tap the plus sign here. You’ll then be on the add new wallpaper screen. Inside of here, browse and choose the wallpaper layout or photo that you want to use.

Now to change the clock font and color, tap on the time.

You’ll then get a font and color window, that allows you to check out the available choices to choose from.

First, find the font you like, and then on the bottom choose your color. There’s a bunch of default colors, but if you swipe all the way to the end, you’ll see a color wheel. Choose that, and you can then dial in the exact color that you want to use. You can use the grid of colors, a spectrum, or sliders. If you know the hex color number, you can also put that in here if you want.

Make your choice, and then click the x or anywhere outside of the clock settings to get back to the main wallpaper screen. When you’re happy with the new clock font and color, tap add on the top right.

After that, choose which screens you’d like this to be set to. You can choose to set your lock and home screens as a pair, or you can customize your home screen to something else. We’ll do a pair.

Once we do that, our lock screen clock will now be changed to what we customized it to. You can now in the future change it up, by just heading back into the selection screen, and this time hitting customize.

And that’s how you edit your displayed clock font and color on an iPhone.
