This song has an interesting origin! Last saturday it did not exist, but during this week it has been composed, recorded, filmed & scripted. A very rapid turnaround for me! I say 'composed', but really the whole thing seemed orchestrated by higher forces! It started snowing heavily where I live in Budapest, so with friends we went out to play! I still love snow like a child loves snow, because it's magical, purifying & silent and it hints at a world beyond! As we trudged through the gloomy ultra-violet and golden cloudstorm with the day waning, I felt a particular atmosphere tumble into my being. It was to do with the purity and the silence itself, and the way snow made me feel as a child. I knew if it had snowed overnight because of the silence! The birds stopped singing, indeed the whole world seemed to hold its breath, as if something magical was about to take place!

And I had the same feeling at midnight on Christmas eve as a child; that the world seemed to be holding its breath as something golden descended from the heavens. And I also had the same feeling when I first came to Budapest and met my twin-flame. Every precious moment with her seemed like a snowfall on Christmas day; exciting; awe-inspiring; magical; as if a higher spell was cast upon us. As I played in the snow last saturday, a melody came to me, like a child's lullaby; deep and sweet, a bit melancholy with other-worldly longing, and yet uplifting at the same time. A melody came, and a title; 'Amen’. A simple prayer of understanding, acceptance and thanksgiving.

On the sunday I wanted to write about this and show photos, and I spent two hours carefully crafting something faithful to my experience. But, suddenly it vanished! It disappeared from my laptop altogether. It got lost in cyber-space! Now I'm quite used to this kind of sabotage, actually! I aspire to Godliness and to overcoming my own demons, and mythology presents us with two such demons, Lucifer and Ahriman. Basically, Lucifer is well-intentioned as a former servant of God, but impatient with how we use free will. He really doesn’t like humans! And Ahriman thwarts us with impenetrable materialistic systems! Christ was tempted in the desert by both Lucifer and Ahriman. We all are.

So I lost my little written jewel. Amazingly, however, I went to a spiritual presentation later on the sunday, and the speaker spoke of exactly the same theme, even using the same words; how purity and silence in the soul are necessary for the inner Virgin Mary to give birth to the Christ-child in our heart, as a numinous, awe-inspiring, magical inner event. The immaculate conception and the birth of the Christ-child are available as an inner phenomenon for every sentient being. We can ALL give birth to our Christ-child (higher consciousness) within. In fact, every waking moment can be Christmas day, just like I used to feel with my twin-flame! On monday I began to write the lyrics to 'Amen' but by tuesday the higher 'spell' seemed to be evaporating, as I attended to earthly things intensively again; work; money; organisation; shopping and so on. The song even seemed a little mad to me by then from an ordinary, everyday point of view. At this point I felt the impulse to go to my local DM store and get some ready-made soup from the vegan shelves. It was 12.53pm on an ordinary tuesday in downtown Budapest. But, lo and behold, standing at exactly that shelf in DM that has the soup, at exactly that time was my twin-flame, 15 kms from her home!

For a complex matrix of reasons we no longer speak, at her request. The general outline of this is that we needed to sacrifice our earthly attachment in order to give our whole heart to God, rather than each other. That's the path we're both on, though it's heart-breaking. So she made no physical contact. But back at home, the higher spell returned, and I completed the song. It was as if we met there (well, from my point of view, at least!) as a reminder of the complete validity of the higher world. Though she no longer speaks to me on earth, she speaks constantly in my dreams, and in synchronous moments like these. In short, our earthly love was crucified, in order for it to resurrect in the heart; a microcosm of the Christ story, which is the spiritual path that we're both on.

And that's what this song 'Amen' is about. 'Amen' means 'so be it'.
