The Original Ford Explorer - An SUV Evolution

This is the story of the first generation Ford Explorer. While I normally cover vehicles of the 70's and 80's, the original Explorer captured my heart when I first saw it on the big screen in Jurassic Park way back in 1993.

The original Ford Explorer really was the genesis of the modern SUV trend... for better or worse. But in my mind, no Ford SUV since has quite captured the magical adventurous spirit of the original Explorer.
