Deaf Road Trip to Cape York - Part 2
This video shows our trip from Cairns to Cape York, the tip of the Australian continent.
Pat Morris, an Indigenous Aboriginal Deaf Elder, shows us her family's land, Jowalbinna Bush Camp, in Quinkan Country, near Laura, Queensland, Australia.
She explains drawings from one of the Quinkan Rock Art sites.
She is using iconic signs when communicating, for universal understanding, rather than Auslan Sign Language for the Deaf.
Pat Morris' father Percy Trezise found Aboriginal rock art by accident whilst exploring in Laura and ensured this became a Australian Heritage site. It is now known world wide as Quinkan Rock Art.
