Russian President Vladimir Putin presented the latest civilian helicopters Mi-171A2 and Ka-226T to his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok on Wednesday.

Russia will supply India with 60 helicopters, of the Ka-226 class, and another 140, which will be assembled in India with a localisation level from 50-70 per cent under a bilateral deal signed in 2015.

"I flew on this helicopter and liked it, it is very comfortable. Its advantage is that it has coaxial rotors and no tail rotor, so it withstands well crosswind pressures both in mountains and sea," Putin said on the Ka-226T.

The Indian prime minister checked the Mi-171A2 advanced civilian helicopter which will be also supplied to India.

Established in 2015 to support the economic development of Russia’s Far East, the Eastern Economic Forum will be running until September 6.
